it’s that time of year again, when holiday get-togethers provide ample opportunities for pigging out. the time of year when everybody gets to complain happily about how much weight they’re going to be stuck with come january.

everyone except the vegetarians and vegans.

why?
because most buffet tables are laden with meaty, cheesy, bacony, creamy, milky, lardy stuff that vegans and vegetarians don’t eat. so in the end, the v’s among us have to make due with iceberg lettuce and baby carrots.

not cool.  iceberg lettuce is not festive or jolly in any way.

for all you hungry vegans and vegetarians out there, we hear your cry, and we promise that will never happen at bfd.

at big front door in san diego, we’ll feed you until you have to undo your top buttons. we’ll feed you until you, too, can join in the post-dinner ‘omg, i’m gaining so much weight’ conversations.

stop by and holiday-binge on the menu items below.

vegan and vegetarian sandwiches

(all these items can be made vegan. just let us know, and we’ll make your sammy with no cheese.)
  • deep v – smoked potato, avocado whip, lettuce, roma tomato, red onion, pea sprout, oil and vinegar on whole grain
  • avocado highway – stacked avocado, roma tomato, parmesan crisp, lettuce, oil and vinegar on a torpedo roll
  • caprese – buffalo mozzarella, whole basil leaf, roma tomato, pressed garlic, oil and vinegar on ciabatta
  • eggplant ball – marinara and parmesan on a torpedo roll

vegan and vegetarian salads

(all these items can be made vegan. just let us know, and we’ll make your salad with no cheese.)
  • grapevine – grape, almond, pistachio, date, avocado, onion, roma tomato, orange vinaigrette
  • greek – olive, pepper, pickled onion, feta, roma tomato, cucumber, meyer lemon dressing
  • avoberry – strawberry, avocado, cucumber, red onion, almond, goat cheese, balsamic vinaigrette

no excuses

for you meat- and cheese-eaters out there, of course you’re welcome to stuff yourselves with the above items as well. but mostly, we want you to know that they’re also available on our catering menu.

so now you now. and we beg you: this year, if you’re hosting a holiday get-together, please feed the vegans and vegetarians.
